Abstract
Community entrepreneurship is frequently taught as the search for a promising idea, yet a viable opportunity requires evidence of a customer problem, an implementable solution, a sustainable operating model, and acceptable social consequences. This conceptual article develops a structured opportunity-screening framework integrating community-needs inquiry, capability review, external analysis, resource fit, value-proposition testing, and small-scale validation. A five-gate screening matrix and field-interview protocol are proposed.
